Dance is and has always been an art form but in the modern world it has been reduced to public hype and thus defined that way with special attention to Hip Hop. Since Hip Hop is considered “fresh” and is as modern as modern dances goes it has received the most commercial acknowledgement in the last few decades. But all the hype hip hop has received throughout its history (since 1960’s) has paled in comparison to the commercial attention of the past 5 years (2003-2009) with the emergence of video sharing via the worldwide web. This has significantly raised the awareness of the hip hop dance culture in entirety but does nothing for the knowledge and trade of the culture itself. This brings about many admirers who engage in the art in higher forms but neglect the philosophical component of these dances.

Christian Estanislao Sekhanan, director and choreographer of eCSentric dance crew, came up with two categorizations for dancers and dance enthusiasts alike; the Chorophiles and the Pseudochorophiles.
