BomQuiachon
Bom is one of the 4 elements of eCSentric crew. Bom, along with Ni Xiang, has been with me throughout the entire eCSentric experience. One of the pioneer members of the crew and a dear friend. Unlike RJ, who came into the crew in the time the crew was rising, Bom has experienced the fullness of rollercoaster that is eCSentric crew, our failures, our transitions, our transformation, everything. He stood with me through it all.
Things haven’t been very easy on Bom in this whole thing and i attest that he has had probably the hardest time among any of us when it comes to dance. We in eCSentric are subjects of our limitations but we are not slaves of it, neither are we victims. Bom is living proof of that. Bom’s physique is limitation to him; he’s got short legs and a long body. But it isn’t the physical aspect which is a great obstacle for him... it’s the psycho-social aspect of it. Many see Bom and dismiss him only appreciating a fragment of his talent because of his appearance. He’s like a teapot, short and stout. But his heart is a thing of beauty and he turns into a beast when he dances (see what i did there?). but seriously, Bom has proven himself to me in so many occasions not only as a dancer but as a philosophical entitiy as well. RJ is an inspiration for my theoriesof dance, while Bom is an inspiration for my philosophy of life. His limitations are the greatest of us all and yet he handles it with such confidence and style that it is truly inspiring. People look at Bom and see the dancer, not the dance. People have to be able to see beyond this and yet it is human nature to quickly dismiss things that they don’t understand, such is the qualification of something to be considered “Eccentric”, right? So by that alone, Bom can already be considered eccentric. But that’s not all of it.
Before the crew’s sudden transformation, Bom has always been in the back of the formations, the least considered of the crew despite being a pioneer. I remember even putting RJ in the front line before Bom which doesn’t follow seniority at the very least. But despite this Bom’s genuine love for the crew and the philosophy always kept him away from such ideas of inconsideration. Why? Because he lived the philosophy more than anybody else. And just like the philosophy predicts: your dance is the articulation of life, but it works so that your life becomes a translation of your dance. And Bom proved this theory hands down. The way he handled himself in life became evident in the way he danced. As he got better at life so did his dance improve tremendously. I watched at how RJ’s dance improved his life and how Bom’s life improved his dance. They were the signs i needed to solidify our philosophy and Bom was the bigger side of it. You can see it in his dance. The power, the spirituality and emotions he brings is something that clearly expresses his soul.
Bom’s dance is like water that allows you to clearly see through to his heart of fire.
The 3rd eCSentric element: SPIRITUALITY

Bom is one of the more studious members of the crew. he attends all his classes, aces them, and still makes it to our performances. if only you knew how much Bom has grown as a dance artist. He reminds me of myself actually. and so far he's one of our most active freestylers. Bom put himself in a position to learn everything. His open-mindedness and "go-for-it" attitude has pushed him to grow just as fast as the others while maintaining great academic standing, a feat rarely accomplished. sure you have a lot of dancers who maintain a good GPA but these dancers aren't eCSentrics... the difference of our pursuit of dance from those of our mass contemporaries is the fact that we try to deny ourselves of superficial praise and concentrate on our own self-actualization as dancers. we all try hard to innovate. it's not a matter of being able to pop, lock, break, vogue, house, tut, wack, krump, groove, and choreograph... it's about being able to go beyond. society loves the box, while eccentrics hate the box. Bom understands that and tries to live up to that while maintaining everything else. it's a lot harder than you think, and Bom does that very well...
